Silver Birch - Betula pendula - Common Birch

Silver Birch

A white stemmed medium sized tree with distinctive diamond shaped leaves. Male and female catkins are borne at different times, against the background of white bark. Also known as the 'Lady of the Woods'. Silver Birch is Good planted in dry conditions.

White Birch - Betula pubescens - Native Trees

White Birch

The Common White Birch has smooth downier shoots than the silver birch and lovely white bark that extends to the base of the tree. Better suited to wetter conditions than Betula pendula.
