Aesculus carnea

"Redhorse Chesnut"

A wonderful large tree often used for avenues and parks. The red horse chesnut produces delightful rose-pink flowers in panicles up to 20cm long with compact dark green leaflets.
Aesculus carnea Briotii A form of The Red Horse Chestnut with even deeper red flowers and of slightly more compact size and growth.
Aesculus flava

"Sweet buckeye"

A medium-sized or large tree with its flowers attractively nearest to yellow in a horse chesnut, borne in May and June. Leaves giving good rich autumn tints.

"Ohio buckeye"

The 'Ohio buckeye'. A small to medium sized tree with an attractive rough bark. Its leaves turn to a warm orange and yellow in the autumn with its flowers of a pretty yellow-green colour which are followed by prickly fruits.

Aesculus glabra var arguta The 'Texas buckeye, White buckeye'. An attractive small shrubby tree with its unique leaves displaying 7-9 deeply double-toothed leaflets, producing soft cream flowers in May.

"English Horse Chesnut "

One of the most beautiful of all hardy flowering trees in Britain. It is covered in large cones of white flowers in May. The fruits split in autumn to reveal familiar shiny conkers.

Aesculus hippocastanum Baumannii A large imposing tree much like the Common Horse Chestnut but flowers delightfull short candles of pure white double flowers. Sadly does not produce any 'conkers'

"Indian horse chesnut"

A magnificent, large tree with panicles of pink-flushed flowers. The Indian horse chesnut has leaves are a shimmering bronze in their youth, becoming glossy dark green, then turning orange or yellow in autumn.
Aesculus indica Sidney Pearce A delightful free flowering, upright tree with dark, rich olive-green leaves. Its flowers appear in large panicles with stunning individual blossoms up to 2.5cm across, the petals are white, marked yellow and daintily suffused pink.

Aesculus neglecta Erythroblastos A slow growing form eventually making tree size, its early foliage a brilliant shrimp pink - quite stunning.

"North American Buckeye"

One of the North American Buckeyes, it makes a spreading shrub up to about 3 metres with white flower panicles with a touch of red. Good autumn butter yellow foliage.

Aesculus pavia Red Buckeye from southern United States and introduced in 1711 makes a fine specimen large shrub with wide spreading branches, Horse Chestnut like leaves and glorious crimson flowers in long panicles opening in June and July.

Aesculus pavia Atrosanguinea A beautiful medium sized to large shrub or small tree with glorious deep crimson-red flower panicles.

Japanese horse chesnut

The 'Japanese horse chesnut'. A large tree with foliage attractively veined and tinted in the autumn. Produces long panicles of yellowish-white flowers, each with a delicate red spot. Its luxurious fruits are large and pear-shaped.
