| Larix decidua | The European Larch. Though commonly planted as a forest tree, I find this an absolutely gorgeous site in autumn when its foliage turns a beautiful butter yellow. | |

| Larix leptolepsis | The Japanese Larch also called L. kaempferi makes a large tree and tends to be wider than our European Larch. It has lovely reddish twigs which give a purpley haze effect in winter. | |
| Metasequoia glyptostroboides | The Dawn Redwood. A living relic from Pre-historic times makes a fabulous specimen tree of very large size. Lovely bright green new foliage in spring combine well with the rugged cinnamon brown bark. | |
