Abies Concolor The Colorado White Fir, a magnificent species making in time a large tree with grey smooth bark. Foliage varies from blue-green to a more grey-green.  
Abies Koreana A rather slow growing conifer, remarkable for its startling purple blue cones.  
Abies nordmanniana The Caucasian Fir, now very popular as a Christmas tree which is a pity as left to grow as a tree it makes a truly majestic site, a large tree with layered downward sweeping branches, dense shiny green foliage.

Calocedrus decurrens Columnaris The Incense Cedar. Recognised by its dark green foliage and very tall narrow outline.

Cryptomeria japonica Elegans Eventually a small tree of good outline, superb feathery foliage of a lightish green which turns bit by bit to differing shades of red and bronze.  
Cryptomeria japonica Globosa Nana Slightly arching branches form a low mound of lovely green foliage. Slow growing.  
Cryptomeria japonica Sekkan Sugi One of those conifers that immediately attracts attention, striking pale creamy yellow foliage. Ultimately makes a small tree.  
Cryptomeria japonica Spiralls More intriguing than beautiful, masses of spiralled branches and bright green foliage give this conifer its other name of 'Grannies ringlets'.  
Cuppressus arizonica glabra Aurea Makes a medium sized conifer of quite pleasing shape. Foliage with a yellowish hue that lightens in intensity during the winter.  
Cupresspcyparis Leylandii Little needs to be said about this conifer the well known Leylandii of many a passionate boundary debate etc. Much maligned but positioned sensibly can be useful.  
Cupressus macrocapa Totem An attractive very narrow waisted conifer, as its name suggests a very pole like in appearance.  
Cupressus macrocarpa Wilma Srikingly bright yellow foliage and a very upright habit has made this a very popular conifer in recent years. Originated as a sport of Golcrest but with brighter yellow foliage.

Larix decidua The European Larch. Though commonly planted as a forest tree, I find this an absolutely gorgeous site in autumn when its foliage turns a beautiful butter yellow.  
Larix kaempfer    
Larix leptolepsis The Japanese Larch also called L. kaempferi makes a large tree and tends to be wider than our European Larch. It has lovely reddish twigs which give a purpley haze effect in winter.  
Metasequoia glyptostroboides The Dawn Redwood. A living relic from Pre-historic times makes a fabulous specimen tree of very large size. Lovely bright green new foliage in spring combine well with the rugged cinnamon brown bark.  
Microbiota decussata A conifer collectors plant, related to Juniperus. Lovely winter colour foliage of plum purple and reds.  
Picea abies The most commonly cultivated spruce with red brown bark and orange brown shoots. Our beloved Christmas tree now losing favour to non needle drop Firs. A good tree for the mixed woodland

Podocarpus County Park Fire    
Podocarpus Flame The male form of P. County Park Fire an outstandingly attractive conifer with its foliage changing from creams to bronze red.  
Pseudotsuga menziesii    
Sequoia sempervirens The Californian Redwood, discovered by Archibald Menzies in 1794, ultimately makes a huge tree as big as a skyscraper. Very handsome in outline and fabulous soft reddish bark, don’t plant this tree unless you have acres to spare.
